Pasay City Leads Inspiring 2025 Brigada Eskwela Regional Kick-Off
Pasay City proudly hosted the 2025 Brigada Eskwela Regional Kick-Off on June 9, 2025, at Jose Rizal Elementary School, marking a dynamic start to the annual campaign that unites schools, communities, and stakeholders in preparing for the upcoming school year.
The event gathered education leaders, local officials, teachers, parents, and volunteers in a powerful show of solidarity and commitment to creating safe, inclusive, and nurturing learning environments for students across the region.
Leading the event was Pasay City’s dedicated mayor, Hon. Imelda “Emi” Calixto-Rubiano, who expressed both pride and passion in welcoming participants.
“We are truly honored to host such a significant event for Philippine education. Here in Pasay, we go all out—not just in improving facilities, but also in enriching academic programs, lesson plans, and extracurricular activities,” Mayor Emi shared. “Our approach is holistic. We aim to mold students into God-fearing, law-abiding citizens, ready to lead and serve.”
She highlighted Pasay’s consistent efforts toward educational excellence, underscoring the city’s all-encompassing strategies for student development.
Adding warmth to the occasion, DepEd NCR Regional Director, Asec. Jocelyn DR Andaya, joined Mayor Emi in a special storytelling session with incoming Grade 2 pupils. Together, they read the children’s book “May Gadget Ako, May Libro Ako,” delighting young learners and fostering early literacy and a love for reading.
In her keynote message, Asec. Andaya emphasized that Brigada Eskwela goes far beyond beautifying schools:
“This initiative is about building an environment where every child feels supported. When we prepare schools, we’re not just preparing classrooms—we’re shaping the future.”
Guest of honor Asec. Nilo L. Rosas echoed this sentiment, calling on parents, schools, and community partners to embody the bayanihan spirit. He stressed the collective responsibility of creating better, safer, and more engaging learning spaces for all students.
Congressman Antonino G. Calixto, through his representative Nictor Reyes, reaffirmed his strong support for Pasay’s educational programs, highlighting the vital link between local and national efforts in driving academic progress.
Far more than a ceremonial kick-off, the event in Pasay was a celebration of shared purpose and community-driven action. With the unified efforts of educators, local officials, parents, and volunteers, Pasay once again stood out as a model city—demonstrating that genuine collaboration is key to delivering quality education and building a brighter future for every learner.
